Writer by Night: Jenny Ringo in Shooting People's Film of the Month!

As of right now, Jenny Ringo and the Monkey's Paw is in first place in Shooting People's Film of the Month competition!!!

So here's how this works.

We're currently in Round 1 which is open until the 20th of September. In order to get through to Round 2 we need to stay in the Top 5 until then.

In Round 2 the votes get reset and the process starts again. If we can get into the top 3 in Round 2?this months guest judge, Danny Boyle,?watches the film and gives us some feedback.?He also?picks a winner, but to be honest having the film seen by Danny Boyle is a big enough achievement in itself!

The only problem is only Shooting People members can vote and you?have to pay to be a member. So here's what I need -

My strategy is to try to stay at the top for as long as possible in the hope of picking up a few extra stars from curious passers-by. It's going to be a massive challenge to stay in the competition. Our film is about five times longer than most of the other entries so it's a bigger ask to get strangers?to watch it. Last month the films that made it through Round 1 all had around 400 stars so we've got a really long way to go yet! But I have a few more tricks up my sleeve yet and have only called in favours from a handful of the filmmakers I know so far, so?I'm confident we're in with a good chance.

I'll post updates as the month goes on. If we do win I'm going to record a commentary track for the film and post it online.

Enjoying The Moment In My Online Home Based Business

I?m sitting here this Saturday morning in my online home based business looking over the Gulf of Mexico. I?ve rented a condo on the beach on Sanibel Island on the west coast of Florida with my wife and some friends for the long labor day weekend. My son has begun his freshman year at college at my alma-mater, Florida International University and he is comfortably situated in his dorm room.
I?ve got my notebook computer, a wireless connection, a hot cup of coffee and I?m sitting here comfortably on the patio writing my daily blog. I am living the internet lifestyle. Regularly I work out of my home office. I?m doing what I love everyday running my online home based business. I set my own hours, but I have a passion for what I am doing so it doesn?t really feel like work.
It is quite different from the over thirty years I spent getting up every day and dealing with a painful commute to a job where I wasn?t happy, appreciated for my value or compensated well. I made the decision about a year ago to gather the information I needed to create the life that I knew I was capable of living. Now I am enjoying the rewards of my efforts. I continue to educate myself each day as I add value to myself as an internet marketing consultant.

I do the things all of us who want to be successful as entrepreneurs and run an online home based business need to do. I continually work to improve myself, both personally and professionally. I continue to develop my knowledge base and skills in internet marketing so I can be of greater value to others who can use my help. I am working daily to change my mindset so I don?t encounter any mental roadblocks to my success on my way to achieving my goals.
Of course I set goals, both short term and long term and take actions each day toward achieving those goals. I communicate with those people that are my mentors and they help guide me on the right path toward my ultimate goal of financial and personal freedom. I know I have goals that are shared by millions of other people around the world, to be financially independent, to be entrepreneurs and run their own home based business, and to enjoy a sense of freedom and contentment. It is all possible.
All of the tools necessary to reach these goals are out there and available to anyone with the belief in themselves and the commitment to work toward achieving their goals. Developing the right mindset is critical to this process to ensure that your subconscious mind won?t sabotage your efforts and keep you from reaching your goals. But when you get your mind right you will open the doors of unlimited opportunity and success. There is nothing that you won?t be able to achieve. You can finally live your dreams.

Samsung to review 250 Chinese suppliers for labor violations

SEOUL (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co said on Monday it would inspect 250 Chinese companies which make products for the South Korean firm to ensure no labor laws are broken after a U.S.-based group accused one of its suppliers of using child labor.

Samsung also said its audit into working conditions at an HEG Electronics facility in Huizhou in southern China found no under-aged workers. New York-based China Labor Watch said last month seven children younger than 16 were working in the factory that makes phones and DVD players for Samsung.

But Samsung said the audit identified several instances of inadequate management and potentially unsafe practices such as overtime beyond local regulations, improper safety measures and a system of fines for tardiness or absences.

"Samsung has demanded that HEG immediately improve its working conditions... If HEG fails to meet Samsung's zero tolerance policy on child labor, the contract will be immediately severed," Samsung said in a statement.

It said it would conduct inspections for all 105 supplier companies in China which produce goods solely for Samsung by the end of September, and review, via documentation, by the end of the year another 144 suppliers that makes products for it and other firms.

"If supplier companies are found to be in violation of our policies and corrective actions not taken, Samsung will terminate its contract with those supplier companies," Samsung said.

The move follows allegations earlier this year that Apple Inc's products were assembled in China amid multiple violations of labor law, including extreme hours.

Apple and its main contract manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group, whose subsidiary Hon Hai Precision Industry assembles Apple devices in China, later agreed to tackle violations of conditions among the 1.2 million workers assembling iPhones and iPads. That landmark decision could change the way Western companies do business in China.
