New numbers from polling firms shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney ahead of the pack in three GOP nomination contests, but President Barack Obama's approval rating is rising slightly.
In the money race for the general election, Obama had four times the funding Romney had available as of December 31.
Here's a look at the latest numbers and information regarding the 2012 presidential race.
* A look at the candidates finances thanks to OpenSecrets.org shows number from 2011 indicated Obama has $81,761,012, compared to Republican front-runner Romney's $19,916,126 on hand. 47 percent of Obama's funds was raised from small individual contributions, a number that rivals Ron Paul at 52 percent. Only 9 percent of Romney's funds came from small individual donors.
* Paul had $1,904,915, second to Gingrich with $2,108,831; however, Gingrich has more than half of that number in debts while Paul has none. Santorum has almost as much debt as he has cash, $278,935.
* Nevada and Maine are next for the Republican nominee hopefuls starting on November 4, and a poll taken and reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and 8NewsNow shows him leading 45 percent to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's 25 percent. Former Senator Rick Santorum musters 11 percent, edging out Congressman Ron Paul with 9 percent. The poll press release notes that Paul tends to outperform polling numbers through strong organizational ground work.
* Arizona and Michigan both hold primaries on February 28, and Rasmussen Reports has Romney-favorable numbers to report for both states. According to Rasmussen's Arizona poll, Romney is out to a big lead with 48 percent over Gingrich, at 24 percent. Santorum has 17 percent and Paul 6 percent.
* In Michigan, Rasmussen's poll indicates Romney has softer support, but enough to win with 38 percent over Gingrich's 23 percent. Again Santorum pulls in 17 percent of the vote and Paul captures 14 percent.
* Gallup has nearly positive numbers to report in its three-day rolling average, with the president at 47 percent disapproval and 46 percent approval. Trends show that gap tightening in a big improvement over much more deeply negative fall 2011 numbers.
